Room Eighteen @ Berjaya Times Square, KL

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

A recently open Chinese restaurant over at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur. Just located at the ground floor next to Guardian Pharmacy. Seems like a nice restaurant that knows its food cuisine. Almost dinner time, guess its a good place to try out the food. Later found out its actually a subsidiary of the famous Oriental restaurant Tai Thong.

The restaurant was having a promo package set. The promotion set that we took was the Wanton Noodle Soup as the main course, a small cup of coca-cola, a small cup of black herbal jelly as dessert and a small bowl of soak peanuts as tidbits.

Another order of fresh orange juice, to quench my thirst after long hot walk around the shopping mall. While to fill up my hunger, I tried the sweet braised meat with oily rice (char siew rice).

I would really recommend everyone to try the wanton noodles as its smooth and delicious! I’m very sure that they make the noodles themselves. Not forgetting the wanton, its big and very fulfilling.

Tenji Japanese Buffet @ SoHoKL

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Here is another Japanese Buffet restaurant review. This restaurant has already been around and reviewed by lots of people for their freshness in seafood and also its creativity. My friends and I have the opportunity to visit and try out the food as well. The restaurant opens at 11.30am and closes for its morning/afternoon at 3.00pm. At the time we ate; the offer was at RM 77++ per person.

Even if you are not use to eating raw seafood, there are variety of cooked and fried dishes to choose from. Japanese pizza and spaghetti are also available. Since I am a sashimi lover, it is a definitely for me to feast on these fresh food. I do wish to comment however that the soyu or soy sauce is a little bit too salty compared to the usual sushi restaurants. Their wasabi is placed in small packaging but surprisingly its still fresh and tasty.

The oyster are also very fresh and very tasty. Do not forget to drink the freshly made coconut drink as it is healthy especially with nowadays cases of H1N1.

The dessert section is filled with a massive variety of cakes, cookies, sweetness galore and their ice-cream is from the best: Hagen Daaz

Do try out this Tenji Japanese Buffet. Its worth your every bite!

My Toast @ MidValley Mall

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

What do you do when you come early to a shopping mall which many of the in-store has not open yet? Scout around for a good Morning breakfast place. I wanted to eat some good ol’ western breakfast and was recommended by friends to try out “My Toast” Kopitiam at basement floor between the walk-way of Gardens and Mid-Valley Megamall.

First problem arise when I arrived to the My Toast kopitiam restaurant. Its not in a shop. Hence the seatings were a bit cramp. Furthermore, for only one person to eat there, its totally not recommended as you have to remember your table number and then go to the counter to order your food. Nowadays its not advisable to leave your valuables on the table seats as to “pre-book” your table. Luckily, it was still early in the morning and not many people were walking by the stall.

The first item on the menu that I receive is the French Toast. I should be getting my drinks first (Coffee) and not the food 1st. There was also a mixed-up with the items with another customer’s table. [poor management]. The French Toast is too oily!

The breakfast plate. 2 eggs, a hot dog, baked beans (so little) and a toast bread. The eggs were too fried and dry. It would be ideal if it was one fried egg and one half-fried egg (at least one of the yolk should be watery instead of dried up).

My choice of eatery.. first and last!
